Fix-It Splitster

There I was, staring at a bathtub leak that went through the floor below damaging the lower-level ceiling and even resembling the messy phase of my current life. How on earth did I get here? Newly split and armed with nothing but a YouTube video and sheer panic, I found myself in the unexpected role of becoming a Fix-It Splitster. I quickly realized why I’d always deferred to my ex for these things. But now, it was me versus the leak. Spoiler alert: the leak won.

It’s not just the plumbing. Suddenly, high-placed lightbulbs needed changing, the lawn won’t mow itself, and I’m Googling phrases like “do dishwashers have filters that need changing”. There’s something comically empowering about it, though. After a few failed attempts—and the occasional call to a professional—I realized I’m learning.
